Our Commitment
PetsAboard is committed to making our Military PCS pet travel tools accessible to all service members, military families, and Department of Defense civilians. We believe everyone should be able to plan their PCS pet travel confidently, regardless of ability.
Conformance Target
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines help make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including visual, auditory, cognitive, and motor impairments.
What We've Done
- Checkbox and interactive elements include proper ARIA labels and roles
- Collapsible panels use
aria-expandedto communicate state to screen readers - Color contrast meets WCAG AA ratios for text and interactive elements
- Decorative SVG icons are marked with
aria-hidden="true"to reduce screen reader noise - Semantic HTML (
<main>,<section>,<nav>, headings) provides meaningful document structure - All interactive elements are keyboard-navigable via Tab, Enter, and Space
- Form labels are associated with their controls
- External links open in new tabs and are marked with
rel="noopener noreferrer"
Known Limitations
We are aware of the following areas where accessibility can be improved:
- No high-contrast or dark mode option is available yet
- Skip-to-content navigation link is not yet implemented
- Print view has not been optimized for screen readers
We are actively working to address these limitations in future updates.
